New Zealand suffers another blow ahead of fourth T20 against Pakistan

New Zealand’s Devon Conway has been ruled out of the upcoming fourth T20 International (T20I) against Pakistan after testing positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

The announcement was made on New Zealand cricket’s social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), revealing that Conway has been in isolation at the team’s Christchurch hotel since receiving the positive test result on Thursday.

“Devon Conway has been ruled out of the fourth T20I against Pakistan after testing positive for COVID. Conway has been in isolation at the team’s Christchurch hotel after testing positive yesterday. Canterbury Kings batsman Chad Bowes will join the squad today as cover,” Blackcaps posted on X.

Conway’s absence comes as a blow to the Kiwis, given that he has been a key contributor to New Zealand’s batting lineup. To address the void left by Conway’s absence, Canterbury Kings batsman Chad Bowes has been called up to join the squad as cover. Furthermore, Bowling coach Andre Adams has been ruled out after testing positive for COVID-19.

The fourth T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan is scheduled to take place on Friday in  Christchurh. New Zealand has already sealed the series by 3-0.
