A social media post by the Boks boss indicates a threat made towards the Bok No 9.
Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach has been the target of a death threat following the team’s Rugby World Cup win against France in Paris last Sunday.
According to Springboks director of rugby Rassie Erasmus, the No 9 was called “Dirty son of a bitch” and threatened with murder when the returns to Montpellier, his club, after the World Cup.
The Boks beat France in a thrilling quarter-final match 29-28 to advance to the semi-finals where they will face England this weekend. Reinach, as he did in the last-eight match, will again be in the No 9 jersey.
Erasmus writes, among other things in response, in his post: “Its not nice and upsets a mom and dad to see things like that said about their boy.”
The Boks play England in the semi-finals at the World Cup on Saturday at 9pm. In the other semi-final, New Zealand and Argentina meet on Friday, at 9pm.
